The species Abies pinsapo maroccana endemic of Morocco, is rare, confined solely limestone mountains of the Rif Occidental, near Chefchaouen, where his stands hardly exceed 6000 ha in size and are usually infiltrated cedar, oak or pines, often with undergrowth comparable to that of the cedar forest. Thirty species of breeding birds find refuge. Among the mammals include, among others, the Barbary, the boar and otter (Lutra lutra).
