The Oasis of Morocco holds not only the treasures of biodiversity and geodiversity, but also the arid ancient civilization that still has a perfect expertise in line with the standards, said today, sustainable development. Indeed, oasis production systems allowed local people to maintain and even thrive, in extremely fragile natural environments. Among the most significant markers of good health oasis, the date palm is certainly the structuring element of space, society, company e resource production, as well as the major factor in adaptation climate.

The date variably contribute to the formation of agricultural incomes per million inhabitants at 20 to 60%. It underpins an important commercial activity between the South and North of the country and participated in the creation of employment and population stabilization.

The dattière production RBOSM the area rises in a normal year, to nearly 90,000 tonnes, constituting the bulk of domestic production.

In addition to the exceptional genetic diversity of date palm regional, cultures present associated biological and economic wealth of the most significant (almond, cereals, alfalfa, henna, rose, other aromatic and medicinal plants.)

The area is also home to the D'man sheep breed, the most prolific of all, the Dra goat and bovine Tidili which significantly contribute to meeting the needs of populations in red meat and dairy products.

Traditional management systems resources go hand in hand with social and cultural structures based on active solidarity in the development of infrastructure and in particular for the operation and the mobilization of water resources (Khettaras).

The productive heritage and lifestyle, highly tailored, oases are still endangered as a result of aggressive factors of the environment, both physical and human: succession of dry periods, bayoud disease, locust invasion, extension modern urban fabric and corollary activities, water salinity and soil, various forms of desertification ... 2/3 of phoenicicole heritage were lost during the 20th century.

A comprehensive strategy for saving is then imposed.
