The arganeraie dedicated "sustainable forest" by a specialized Spanish magazine at Salon Fitur in Madrid
The Arganera Biosphere Reserve (RBA) was awarded the Sustainable Forest Award by Spanish magazine "AireLibre", specializing in ecotourism, at the recent international tourism fair in Madrid (FITUR) Press release of the Regional Council of Tourism (CRT) of Agadir. "It is an international recognition as a remarkable territory thanks to its potential and the actions carried out for the conservation of biodiversity, the valorization of the heritage and the sustainable development beyond its status as a biosphere reserve of UNESCO, "said the CRT, which noted the efforts made at the level of the Souss-Massa region to promote sustainable tourism.

This initiative is also part, according to the same source, of the actions deployed in order to attract more Spanish tourists, "very little represented in Agadir and its hinterland". In this sense, the Spanish magazine + AireLibre + will, during the next four years, carry out a communication campaign around the arganeraie, the first of which was the organization of a stand during the FITUR trade fair.
The booth was specially dedicated to the argan plantation in collaboration with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and the CRT of Agadir Souss Massa.
Visitors to the booth were given a symbolic seed of argan tree and an attestation of sponsorship of an argan tree.
Several journalists, bloggers, tour operators and personalities have thus received this seed, stresses the CRT in its statement, specifying that each of these seeds will be planted in the Arganeraie of Souss Massa with the support of the National Agency of the zones oases And the arganeraie (ANDZOA).
"The sponsors of the seeds will therefore be able to come to Morocco to see their argan tree. More than 20,000 seeds are waiting for their sponsors," according to the same source who noted the support received from many personalities.
The president of the Souss Massa region, Brahim Hafidi, stressed the importance of such initiatives to position the region more as a destination for sustainable tourism.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Nada Rodies, welcomed, for its part, an action that strengthens the positioning of Morocco as a sustainable destination at the level of the Mediterranean, says the CRT of Agadir.
For the ONMT, this promotional action is likely to give visibility to Morocco in particular within the framework of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism of the United Nations.
The year 2017 was proclaimed by the UN as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, with the aim of sensitizing decision-makers and the general public to the contribution of sustainable tourism to development.
