Protected Area
Al Hoceima National Park
With an area of 47,000 ha, Al Hoceima National Park includes a terrestrial part: the Bokkoyas Massif, and a part located at sea. It offers exceptional aesthetic quality, encompassing the best preserved coastal sites on the northern Moroccan coast, high cliffs and a mountainous hinterland (35°20'N-04°00'W).
The water in the area is distinguished by its extraordinary clarity, promoting remarkable marine wealth. There are numerous marine groups such as Cnidarians, Annelids, Molluscs, Molluscs, Crustaceans, Echinoderms, Fishes, Reptiles, Reptiles, Birds, and Marine Mammals. The simultaneous presence in the park of three species of dolphin: common dolphin, blue and white dolphin and bottlenose dolphin, is a remarkable fact in the Mediterranean.
The park is of particular ornithological interest: 69 species of birds are counted there, including specifically one of the largest concentrations of Osprey in the world. It also offers shelter to very rare species such as the monk seal and the Audouin's Gull.
