As part of the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, in 2019, the Department of Sustainable Development developed a study aimed at establishing an action plan for the implementation of the said Protocol.

The overall objective of this study is to develop an action plan for the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol in Morocco on biosafety, in order to develop a national legal framework on biosafety. The activities carried out relating to the two phases of this study are as follows:

• PHASE I: Diagnosis of the current situation of the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on the prevention of biosafety which showed that the current situation of the operationalization of the CP in Morocco reveals constraints and opportunities on several levels.
• PHASE II: Elaboration of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol by Morocco.
