The National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF), in collaboration with the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), is organizing the Third High-Level Regional Seminar on the Conservation and Restoration of Sahelo-Saharan Megafauna in Agadir from 14 to 16 March 2023.

The objective assigned to this meeting is to update the action plan for the conservation of Sahelo-Saharan megafauna and their habitats, in accordance with the concerted action for Sahelo-Saharan megafauna mandated by CMS COP13. In addition, the meeting will provide an opportunity to take stock of ongoing work related to this species, to consider extending concerted action to other species and biomes, to seek sustainable sources of funding for the implementation of the action plan and to discuss the pros and cons of an initiative structured along the lines of the CMS Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI).

Mr. Abderrahim Houmy, Director General of ANEF, will chair the opening of this major event in which more than 24 countries will participate. International organizations and NGOs involved in the conservation of Sahelo-Saharan megafauna will also participate in this seminar.

A field visit will be organized in Souss Massa National Park for the participants.
