Workshop for the preparation of the 7th National Biodiversity Report.
The Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, in collaboration with UNDP, organized a workshop in Rabat dedicated to the preparation of the 7th National Biodiversity Report, with the participation of members of the National Sub-Commission on Biological Diversity. This meeting marked the official launch of an important process to monitor Morocco’s commitments to nature conservation.
The 7th National Biodiversity Report provides an overview of the state of biodiversity in Morocco, the actions undertaken to conserve it, and the results achieved in recent years. It also helps identify the challenges ahead and better guide public policies for the coming years.
This report is part of the Kingdom’s international commitments, notably the Global Biodiversity Framework adopted by the international community to protect nature by 2030.
In a context marked by tight deadlines, the workshop helped clarify the working methodology, the timeline, and the roles of each concerned institution. Participants exchanged views on the data to be mobilized, the expected contributions, and the coordination mechanisms needed to ensure a reliable, transparent report that accurately reflects national efforts.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of cooperation among public institutions, experts, and relevant partners in producing a high-quality report. The 7th National Biodiversity Report therefore represents an opportunity to showcase the actions undertaken in Morocco and to strengthen the integration of biodiversity conservation into sustainable development policies, for the benefit of present and future generations.
