As part of the National Biodiversity Study, conducted in 1998, a large number of regulatory texts were compiled. The various sources of information that were used made it possible to find an invaluable quantity of legislative and regulatory references related to this field of intervention which, in fact, very early on attracted the attention of scientists, technicians, decision-makers and therefore that of the Moroccan legislator.
This study was devoted to several sectors such as: water, river fishing, maritime fishing, hunting, public domain, fauna and flora, and was concerned with protecting certain components of the Moroccan environment in general and its biodiversity in particular.
The diversity of texts is all the more astonishing, as we must note that the Moroccan legislator had never neglected this field, since he has always devoted part of his texts to it in order to ensure a certain preservation of the national natural heritage.
However, these are texts whose biodiversity scope is proportional to the degree of awareness and interest given at the time to the protection and preservation of natural resources.
They are also in proportion to the state of development of science and technology at the time. Thus, we cannot blame our legislator, with all the current parameters, for having little or no interest in national biodiversity.
