Working group for the monitoring and implementation of the CP
According to Article 7 of Decree No. 2.19.721 of 27 April 2020 creating the National Commission on Climate Change and Biological Diversity, the Working Group "Monitoring the Protocols of the Convention on Biological Diversity" resulting from the Sub - Commission for Biological Diversity was designed to monitor the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (CP).
The members of this working group are:
- National Food Safety Office (ONSSA);
- General Secretariat of the Government;
- Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests - Department of Agriculture;
- Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests – Department of Maritime Fisheries;
- Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests – Department of Waters and Forests;
- Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation;
- Ministry of Health and Social Protection;
- Ministry of Industry and Commerce;
- Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC);
- Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (IAV);
- Mohammed V University of Rabat;
- Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Benguerir;
- Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Rabat;
- Rabat Regional Center for Agronomic Research - Biotechnology Research Unit;
- Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research (MASciR) - Biotechnology Pole.
A first meeting of the Working Group "Monitoring the Protocols of the Convention on Biological Diversity", reporting to the National Commission on Climate Change and Biological Diversity, was held on 23 March 2022, in virtual mode. The objective of the said meeting was to discuss the operationalization, at the institutional and regulatory levels, of the Cartagena Protocol on the prevention of biotechnological risks.
