8th edition of the International Argan Congress.

The 8th edition of the International Argan Tree Congress (CIA) will be held from May 8 to 10, 2026, on the occasion of the International Day of the Argan Tree.

Organized under the theme: “From Argan Forests to Argan Cultivation: The Argan Tree as a Pillar of Water Resilience for Ecosystems, Territories, and Communities,” this edition takes place in a context of water and climate crisis and aims to strengthen scientific exchange and partnerships around the strategic role of the argan tree and argan ecosystems.

The 8th edition aims to:

  1. Update scientific knowledge on the interactions between the argan tree, water, soil, and climate within argan ecosystems, moving towards a nexus vision of argan tree/water/agriculture;
  2. Document and analyze the potential impacts of water scarcity on the viability and health of stands, natural regeneration, ecosystem services, and economic activities;
  3. Identify key levers for integrated resource management, adaptation, and resilience, including endogenous knowledge, TIPOs, and alignment with national strategies (Forests of Morocco 2020–2030, Generation Green, NDC, etc.);
  4. Strengthen scientific and professional networks around new research, development, and territorial governance priorities to maximize the impact of research on territories and communities.
