Launch of the Exhibition “Symphony of Wings: The Birds of Morocco” at the Rabat Zoological Garden
The Jardin Zoologique National de Rabat is organizing, starting April 9, 2026, an exhibition dedicated to the birds of Morocco entitled “Symphony of Wings: The Birds of Morocco”, highlighting the richness and diversity of the country’s avifauna.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness and promote knowledge of Morocco’s biodiversity, showcasing a natural heritage of significant ecological value.
An exceptional avian heritage
Thanks to its strategic geographic location between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and its diverse ecosystems, Morocco hosts a remarkable diversity of bird species. To date: 582 bird species have been recorded, including 503 confirmed wild species.
The northern regions and wetlands are among the richest habitats, making Morocco a key biodiversity hotspot within the Mediterranean basin.
A scientific and immersive exhibition
Organized in collaboration with two renowned experts:
- Dr. Abdeljebbar Qninba, researcher at the Scientific Institute (Mohammed V University of Rabat),
- Ms. Halima Bousadik, environmental education specialist and wildlife photographer,
the exhibition features a selection of field-based photographs offering an immersive visual experience of Morocco’s ecosystems.
It also highlights the main characteristics of Moroccan avifauna and recent changes affecting bird populations and their habitats.
Raising awareness and promoting conservation
Through this exhibition, the Rabat Zoological Garden reaffirms its commitment to:
- raising public awareness on biodiversity conservation,
- promoting scientific culture,
- enhancing the value of Morocco’s natural heritage.
This initiative contributes to strengthening collective awareness of the importance of preserving ecosystems and their associated species.
