The project, which is a public contract, aims to study the establishment of an action plan for the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol in Morocco.

The project consists of the evaluation of the current situation of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and biotechnology (traditional and modern) in Morocco, for an efficient implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on the prevention of biotechnological risks. This will allow the definition of concrete measures related to the prevention of biotechnological risks in legislation, general policies and sectoral and intersectoral national institutional frameworks and consequently the contribution to the integration of the principle of respect for biodiversity in sectoral policies. .

These benefits of this project are grouped into two phases:

  • Phase 1: Diagnosis of the current situation of the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on the prevention of biotechnological risks.
  • Phase 2: Development of an action plan for the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol by Morocco.
